Shore Temple: Ancient Marvel on the Bay of Bengal

The Shore Temple, constructed around 725 AD, stands as a remarkable complex of temples and shrines overlooking the Bay of Bengal shore. Situated in Mahabalipuram, approximately 60 kilometers (37 miles) south of Chennai in Tamil Nadu, India, this structural temple is crafted from granite blocks, showcasing the architectural prowess of the 8th century AD.

During its inception, the site flourished as a bustling port under the reign of Narasimhavarman II of the Indian Pallava dynasty. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1984 as part of the Group of Monuments at Mahabalipuram, the Shore Temple holds significance as one of Southern India's oldest structural stone temples.
